   Local anesthetic, thorough irrigation, and closure with the technique best suited for your wound.

4. Wound Care Instructions

   Written aftercare, a follow-up plan, and antibiotics if indicated.

Visit fee ($160) applies. Members pay $50 visit fee and receive 15% off procedures unless a free-service benefit applies.

When to Go to the ER Instead

Some wounds require emergency care. Call 911 or go directly to the ER for:

• Deep wounds involving tendons, nerves, or arteries
• Wounds with arterial bleeding not controlled with pressure
• Animal bites to the face
• Injuries with suspected fracture below the wound
• Wounds with significant tissue loss
• Signs of severe infection with systemic symptoms

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if a cut needs stitches?

Cuts that are gaping, longer than half an inch, deep enough to see fat or muscle, won't stop bleeding after 10 minutes of pressure, or are on the face generally need closure.

Will I get a scar?

All lacerations scar. Proper closure minimizes the scar. Your KaufCare clinician closes wounds with cosmesis in mind, especially on the face.

What about infection risk?

All wounds are irrigated before closure. We prescribe antibiotics when indicated (bite wounds, contaminated wounds, high-risk patients).

Can you remove my stitches later?

Yes. Suture removal is $100. FREE if KaufCare placed the sutures or you are a KaufCare member. Or you can return to your regular doctor.

What about dog bites or cat bites?

We evaluate and treat animal bites. Some bite wounds are not closed primarily (left open to prevent infection). We'll explain the reasoning.
